Privacy Policy

How we handle your personal information, in plain English. Last updated 1 October 2026.

The short version

Thrive Careers is free for candidates. We use your details to market your profile to employers you might want to work for. Your profile is de-identified until you agree to be named to a specific employer. We never sell your personal information, and you can ask us to stop or delete your information at any time.

1. Who we are

Thrive Careers is a trading name of WEBROVER Pty Ltd (ABN 32 607 465 538) ("Thrive Careers", "we", "us"). We are a talent marketing business operating in Australia. We market candidates to employers and are paid a placement fee by the employer if a candidate is hired.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy applies to our website, our forms and campaign pages, our communications with you, and our services.

2. What we collect

The information we collect depends on how you deal with us.

Candidates

  • Contact details: name, email address, mobile number, and LinkedIn profile URL.
  • Your CV and the information in it, such as employment history, qualifications, admissions, practice area, seniority and location.
  • Your career goals, preferences and salary expectations, as you tell us on calls or in forms.
  • Records of our communications with you, including notes of calls with Brian and your responses to employers.
  • Your consent choices, including which employers you have agreed to be named to and which you have asked us to exclude (such as your current employer).

Employers and their staff

  • Business contact details, such as name, role, firm, business email, phone number and LinkedIn profile.
  • Information about hiring needs and records of our communications.

Website visitors

  • Technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and the campaign link or advertisement that brought you to us (for example, UTM parameters).

We do not ask for sensitive information (for example, health, racial or ethnic origin, or political or religious beliefs). If your CV contains sensitive information, we will only use it if you consent or the law allows, and we may remove it from the version we share.

3. How we collect it

  • From you directly: when you book a call, submit a form, upload a CV, email us or speak with us.
  • From public sources: professional information that is publicly available, such as LinkedIn profiles and the websites of employers and firms, to identify people who may be interested in our services and employers who may be hiring.
  • From service providers: data and enrichment providers that help us find or verify business contact details.
  • Automatically: through cookies and similar technologies on our website.

If we collect your details from a public source and contact you, we will tell you where we found them if you ask.

5. Who we share it with

Employers

We first share a de-identified version of your profile. It describes your experience and goals without your name or contact details and, where possible, without details that would identify you. We only share your name, CV and contact details with a specific employer after you agree to that employer. We will not approach your current employer, and we will honour any other exclusions you give us.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run our business, who may handle personal information on our behalf under confidentiality and security obligations. These include providers of website hosting and security, email and productivity tools, customer relationship management and marketing systems, appointment scheduling, analytics, data enrichment, and artificial intelligence services.

Others

We may disclose information to professional advisers, to regulators or law enforcement where required or authorised by law, or to a buyer or successor if our business changes hands. We do not sell personal information.

6. Technology and AI

We use data analysis and artificial intelligence tools to help us understand job markets, identify employers who may be a good fit, prepare profiles, and draft and personalise communications. People review our work: a member of our team, including Brian, oversees candidate profiles and conversations. We do not make final hiring decisions. Employers make those decisions.

We use AI providers under terms that restrict how they use the information we provide. We do not permit them to use your personal information to train their general models. If you have questions or concerns about how AI is used with your information, contact us.

7. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. Before we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles it in a way consistent with the APPs. If we expand to other countries, such as Singapore, we will update this policy.

8. Marketing and opting out

We may contact you by email, phone, SMS or LinkedIn about opportunities and our services. Our electronic messages identify us and include a way to unsubscribe, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth). You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link, replying "stop", or emailing us. We will act on your request promptly.

9. Website and cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, to measure visits, and to understand which campaigns bring people to us. You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you block some cookies, parts of the site may not work as intended.

If you follow a link from our website to another site, that site's privacy practices apply, not ours.

10. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include access controls, encryption in transit, and confidentiality obligations for our team and providers.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.

11. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
  • stop contacting you or stop marketing your profile; and
  • delete your information, unless we are required by law to keep it.

We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will tell you why in writing.

12. Complaints

If you think we have breached the Privacy Act or this policy, contact us using the details below. We will investigate and reply in writing. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with its last-updated date at the top.
